Pumpkinrot’s "The Corn Witch"

I know this has been posted here before but with the site reboot and subsequent purging of old posts, it seems appropriate to share again.

In the beginning (back around 2006), I was an admirer of Pumpkinrot’s brilliant Halloween displays and scarecrows. Over time, he and I (and his awesome wife, bean) became friends and, eventually, collaborators. Twice now I’ve provided music for his annual Halloween haunt video–once in 2008 and again in 2009.

This is the video for his 2009 haunt, titled “The Corn Witch”.

I love doing these and look forward to future projects with ‘Rot. It really is a trip. We’re like two Horror fanboys making movies in a virtual garage. So much fun.

  1. And I have it on good authority that this cue was played on Halloween night at Mike Dougherty’s Haunt. : )

    Future projects indeed, man.

  2. Jon, I discovered your site here thanks to Rot’s blog. I’m extremely glad I did! I’ve downloaded the tracks you have featured here, and I love the mood they convey. In fact, I’ve placed them on my iPod so that I can listen while on my nightly walks. I look forward to hearing more tracks, and I’d LOVE to have this piece as an MP3 to put on my iPod as well (hint, hint). Keep up the fantastic work!

    • Thanks very much! I’m very glad you enjoy the tunes. Those must be some pretty creepy walks…

I should have the two tracks I made for Pumpkinrot uploaded within the week. I’m just making some minor tweaks before converting to MP3.

Thanks again for listening and for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate the kind words. Cheers!

  3. Ha! Yeah…well, in all honesty, I actually kinda like to take “creepy” walks! I’m always listening to horror movie soundtracks, and stuff of that nature, when I’m out for my nightly stroll. Yeah…I’m a weirdo, but I find inspiration in it for all sorts of stories, haunt ideas and what-not.

Looking forward to the tracks, as well as whatever else you have in store for us in the future! Great work all around!

    • Hey, I’m not judging. I’ve certainly done stranger things than that to get the wheels turning.

Thank you again. I’ll have those other MP3s up soon. Just wrangling with a couple of minor technical issues.
